Individual Cattle Identification - Lumachain/ANU research collaboration

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The purpose of the project is to develop an individual identification framework for cattle in farms, yards, feedlots and abattoirs. We seek to develop an AI algorithm / model for registering cattle in farms, yards and feedlots using images and / or video of their head and / or body, and then re-identification at the abattoirs. Each cattle registered in the AI model must be assigned a unique ID at the point of registration and must be identified with the same ID whenever a video and / or image of the same cattle is presented to the model.Lumachain has obtained imagery from its commercial partners for this project and will continue to acquire additional video as required. Lumachain will assist in maintaining the image / video database and will obtain the required annotations. Lumachain will also cooperate with ANU researchers to develop suitable data acquisition protocols and camera / hardware requirements.
