Project Details
Description
The Project develops innovative statistical methods to allow insights into the effects of income contingent student loan mechanisms, such as the Higher Education Contributions Scheme. These approaches are applied to a host of creative policy reforms to illustrate their consequences for Australian university expansion, an explicit goal of the current government. Surveys involving both domestic and international student experiences will be analysed to help in an understanding of the potential to improve the effectiveness and equity of student financing. Income contingent loan policies for expansion of Australian higher education will be examined, as will student financing mechanisms for many countries in our region and beyond.
