JG Russell -Genomics of extinction and isolation on Australian island arks

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

JG Russell top-up award for DECRA DE240100573 - The overall goal of this DECRA project is to reconstruct past mammal declines and determine the genetic health of remnant populations, by generating large-scale multispecies comparative genomic datasets. This knowledge will provide crucial guidance for translocation and genetic rescue of threatened species, both in Australia and globally. With decreasing cost of sequencing, availability of reference genomes for Australian mammals, and urgent conservation need, now is the time for a project of this scope.
