    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Lake Mungo preserves Australias most important archaeological sites and is the jewel of the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area. These sites contain some of the earliest evidence for human settlement of the continent and are of immense cultural significance to all Australians. Recording and protecting these iconic traces of Indigenous heritage will be an educational asset, provide an economic stimulus for culturaltourism and improve our understanding of this fragile, outback landscape.
