Left-handed Metamaterials and Negative Refraction

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

We aim to develop innovative concepts in the field of left-handed metamaterials and explore novel applications of such materials for manipulating optical and micro-wave fields at the sub-wavelength and nano-meter-size dimensions. As a result of this project, we will fabricate the first left-handed metamaterial in Australia and build the left-handed structures operating in microwave and possibly THz frequency regions. This project will promote the new research field of left-handed materials, start its development in Australia, and facilitate the emergence of a novel technology.
