Lost world of complex life: Molecular traces of our primordial ancestors

Earths early oceans teemed with alien forms of complex life. A recent breakthrough discovery by our team, primordial molecules extracted from 1.6 billion years old rocks, are the first and only witnesses of this extinct world of our most ancient ancestors. Based on this discovery, the project aims to uncover the world of these arcane organisms, find what drove them to extinction and reveal how the rise of modern life triggered dramatic changes of global climate, Snowball Earth glaciations and a permanent switch to the ecology of present-day Earth. The findings may revolutionise knowledge at the textbook level about our very earliest ancestors and their impact on the evolution of our planet.
