Description
We aim to understand the origins of mfPOPs striking ability to characterise changes in retinal function in early-stage AMD by correlating mfPOP results with structural changes in macular optical pigment density (MPOD), retinal auto-fluorescence, and drusen loading. We will use subjects presenting with stages 1 to 3 of Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) grading severity to determine the variables or a combination of a small number of variables that best identify retinal dysfunction in each stage of early AMD. We also aim to investigate the interaction between mfPOP and MPOD and its association with AREDS severity to identify its determinants and potential prognostic markers for AMD.
