Masculinity, Men and Development: A Critical Analysis of Violence, Conflict and AIDS Prevention Measures in Melanesia

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Endemic levels of conflict and violence together with the AIDS epidemic are undermining development efforts and threatening to destabilise states in Melanesia. There is a pressing need for research that critically examines the work being done to improve this situation. The project will focus especially on those interventions by governments, non-government organisations and churches that work directly with men to change their behaviour. These are often funded or initiated by development agencies such as AusAID. The research aims to produce policy-relevant research that will inform the development of more culturally appropriate and effective interventions.
