Mathematical modelling of immune response to malaria

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

A number of vaccine candidates against several viral and parasitic infections induce high levels of CD8 T cellswhose aim is to locate and eliminate pathogen-infected cells. Yet, limited quantitative details are known how CD8T cells actually perform the search for the site of infection, how they eliminate the pathogen, and how many CD8T cells needed to provide protection against an infection. Using a combination of experimental infections of micewith Plasmodium parasites and a mathematical modeling we will determine how vaccine-induced CD8 T cellseliminate the Plasmodium liver stages.
