MicroCal PEAQ-ITC for direct and label-free measurement of biomolecule interactions

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

We are requesting funding for an Isothermal titration calorimeter (ITC), specifically, the Malvern MicroCal PEAQ-ITC. This instrument enables the direct measurement of interactions with and between biomolecules (without the need for prior labelling), yielding binding affinity, stoichiometry, and entropy and enthalpy of binding all from a single experiment.Currently there is one ITC on campus (in RSC). It is ten years old (and three years past its projected lifespan), leaving us in danger of losing the capability for ITC. The MicroCal PEAQ-ITC would not onlyensure we retain this capability, but also represents a substantial upgrade (as discussed below).
