Molecular mechanisms of inflammasome activation

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The objective of my CDF1 Fellowship proposal is to investigate the molecular basis driving activation of inflammasomes and to harness the power of inflammasome regulators to kill pathogens and potentially treatdiseases. I will specifically investigate (1) the role of the inflammasome regulators known as interferon-inducible proteins in the activation ofinflammasomes; (2) the anti-bacterial capacity of interferon-inducible proteins; and (3) the role of interferon-inducible proteins in drivinginflammasome-mediated immunity against infection. This CDF1 proposal is of vital importance for global health and will generate new treatment options that can be translated to fight infection in humans, especially in the face of rising antimicrobial resistance.
