Description
Signal enhancement exploiting multiple arrays of seismic recorders will provide information on fine scale structure in the Earth that cannot be directly imaged, yet is vital for reconciling geophysical and geochemical understanding. Novel methods linking adaptive stacking, 3-component analysis and simultaneous use of multiple arrays will be used to exploit different facets of the seismic wavefield to provide structural controls on heterogeneity, caused by dynamic processes, in the mantle and near the core-mantle boundary. Information extracted on shallow features in the neighbourhood of the arrays will yield valuable insight into the structure and composition of the Australian lithosphere.
