Nano-flow ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ionisation to leverage advanced mass-spectrometry for chemistry, biology, medicine and archaeology

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This proposal seeks to upgrade existing mass spectrometry instrumentation in the RSC/RSB Joint Mass Spectrometry Facility with new sample introduction hardware to enhance ANUs molecular analytical capabilities. Specifically, the package includes a Waters Acquity M-Class nanoflow ultra-performance liquid chromatograph and Waters nano electrospray ionisation interface for the Waters Synapt G2-Si mass spectrometer funded by MEC in 2019. Combining the extremely high chromatographic resolution, sensitivity and gentle sample ionization of the requested upgrade with the unique analytical features of the existing Synapt G2-Si instrument, we will be able to significantly extend capabilities in the accurate mass analysis of peptides, proteomes, proteins and their intermolecular complexes. These capabilities will have immediate impact on research projects of a large number of users across ANU Schools and Colleges as evident by the large number of supporting groups in thisapplication.
