Project Details
Description
Traditional polymer manufacturing processes such as thermopolymerisation employs hazardous chemicals whichpresent health and environmental risks. This project aims to develop an environmentally-friendly approach: it aimsto develop naturally derived photoinitiators applicable to 3D printing through low-energy visible light-inducedpolymerisation, and explore their application in the fabrication of biocompatible polymeric materials. This projectwill expand fundamental scientific knowledge of photochemistry, polymer chemistry and biology through thedevelopment of a novel, economical, clean, commercially-relevant platform (3D printing) for the fabrication ofpolymeric materials. It will result in economic, environment and social benefits.
