Project Details
Description
This project aims to synthesise and characterise exotic materials produced in the laboratory under conditions that replicate those that exist in the interiors of planets and stars. The novel laser-based synthesis method developed here will provide unparalleled opportunity to explore and understand the non-equilibrium pathways that can lead to intriguing new materials with novel properties that can be exploited for applications. Understanding the physics of formation of these new materials is critical for fuelling the next materials revolution. The significant insights generated by this project will help drive innovative and applied research in Australia and enhance our interdisciplinary and international research links.
