Project Details
Description
This project will develop new methods for real-time multi-sensor data assimilation and ensemble forecasting that will revolutionise the science of tsunami warning. The project will enable tsunami warning systems of the 21st century to generate rapid forecasts that are accurate, reliable, and information rich. This will bring Australian research to the forefront of tsunami science, and avoid the frequent false alarms that currently erode public confidence in warning systems. A longer term aim is to underpin the protection of coastal communities and infrastructure through better warnings and knowledge of tsunami hazards.
