Project Details
Description
The Korean War was decisive in creating Northeast Asia's cold war order. Sixty years on, no peace treaty has yet been signed. This project will provide the first comprehensive study of the socio-economic, cultural and ideological impact of the War on Korea's neighbours: China, Japan, the Russian Far East, Taiwan and Mongolia. By analysing the profound effects of the War on these areas, the project will deepen understanding of the region's cold war, thus providing a historical framework for understanding contemporary moves to overcome continuing crises on the Korean Peninsula and to create a stable post Cold War Northeast Asia.
