Nuclear structure of 192-IR and search for isomer depletion levels

The objective of this research is to utilize the established expertise, facilities and instruments atthe Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility, Australian National University, to improve the mapping ofnuclear levels and transitions between levels for 192-Ir. This nuclide has a long-lived (241-years) isomer that may support novel energy-and-power applications. The mapping willfacilitate a search for levels that could support an induced release of energy from that isomer.
