Project Details
Description
Our team brings together five prominent scientists to study one of the most exciting topics in contemporary astrophysics: the first stars born after the Big Bang. We will secure our world-leading standing in discovering these rare objects by carrying out new large surveys. Follow-up spectra of these the oldest stars in the Universe will be obtained with the world's most powerful telescopes and analysed with state-of-the-art stellar modelling. Our comprehensive investigation will greatly advance our understanding of the nature of the first stars, origin of the elements and early epochs of our Galaxy. Our research in this field has very high impact internationally.
