Project Details
Description
All our communication and computing relies on classical information, most of it now in digital (on/off) form. The new area of quantum information is concerned with alternative ways of encoding, manipulating and transmitting information. The advantages could be more secure communication, improvements in computation speed and the reconstruction of complex systems. This project will pioneer two aspects - the teleportation of optical quantum information using continuous laser beams and generation of entangled two photon beams. By combining the unique expertise of the ANU and University of Queensland we have the opportunity to build the first high quality prototypes for this technology.
