    Description

    Many of the key policy choices facing Australia will have significant impacts on its future generations, yet Australias representative democracy struggles to find effective ways to identify, voice and act on their interests. The obvious unfairness of this erodes trust in government and democratic institutions, especially among younger Australians. This project addresses this fundamental concern by analysing when the organised interest system composed of interest groups and think tanks decides to represent the interests of future generations on key policy challenges, and how this advocacy is connected to the priorities of government. Through workshops and public commentary the project will inform current efforts to (re)design political institutions to better reflect the interests of future citizens.
