P5.1 - Frameworks to support trade in Embedded Carbon Products

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Three key challenges face developers of novel captured carbon products who seek to activate their market on the basis of low-emissions credentials:1.Embedded emissions accounting methodologies often do not yet exist.2.There are a large number of different certification and regulatory schemes each with different emissions accounting methods and frameworks.3.Scale of production is not yet sufficient to cover the costs of engaging in multiple different certification and/or verification processes. Complications arise because currently approaches to embedded emissions accounting are generally not consistent between agricultural and manufacturing sectors. This project aims to use transdisciplinary research methods to help address all three issues.
