Palm Cockatoo Research Program (ANU-RTAW)

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The initial three year research program will be led by a PhD student based at the ANU. The above research activities will form the basis of at least four data driven thesis chapters, all intended for scientific publication, together with standard literature review and other thesis requirements. The broad aim of gaining specific data on the Weipa and Wenlock River populations will contribute valuable information about palm cockatoo behaviour and ecology in habitat that is markedly different from the large rainforest patches found on the east coast of CYP. The resulting conservation science will have a high level of practical value to managers across a range of land tenures.
