PETROLOGICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL CONSTRAINTS ON THE NORTH AUSTRALIAN CRATON LITHOSPHERIC ARCHITECTURE

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Geoscience Australia and the Australian National University signed a Letter of Intention to Collaborate on 11 April 2016 to streamline collaboration on shared mutual interests across a range of science disciplines including earth science, mathematics, statistics, environmental sciences, computational sciences and spatial science. As part of the federal government-funded Exploring for the Future (EFTF) program, Geoscience Australia (GA) is investing capital and operational funds to collect geophysical, geological and geochemical data for the purpose of imaging the solid Earth across northern Australia. A key aim of the EFTF is to utilise the new data in better defining the mineral prospectivity of northern Australia. Mapping of lithospheric architecture and characterisation of mantle metasomatism are fundamental to this aim.
