Description
The spread of democracy across the world combined with unprecedented levels of global migration poses major questions about the political integration of migrants in democratic societies. Four in ten Australian citizens are either migrants or the children of migrants. This makes their political incorporation particularly critical and poses questions about the most effective settlement policies. Using the results from a large national survey, the project will examine, for the first time, the impact of pre-migration experiences and contextual factors on the representation, participation and incorporation of first and second generation migrants.
