Pollination as a controlling factor in almond yield - analysis and reporting

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Almond flowers must be pollinated to produce nuts and honeybees are brought in to orchards at significant cost to ensure pollination occurs. Past research has shown that improvements in pollination practice can increase the proportion of flowers that are converted into fruits. However to ensure overall yield benefits attention must be paid to managing the resource allocation balance in trees so that increases in number of nuts do not cause declines in size. This consultancy contract supports the overall project AL14004 - Pollination as a controlling factor in almond yield in delivering this work through coordinated analysis and reporting.
