Description
China is rapidly becoming an aged society due to the One-Child policy, while the significant pension reform has left many people with no social pension insurance. This study examines three important forms of private retirement financing savings, delayed retirement, and intra-family support to gauge if individuals are protecting themselves. The outcomes of the project, including articles in international refereed journals will: Add to our knowledge of how household decisions respond to significant changes in the welfare system. Contribute to a better design of the new Chinese welfare system. Develop lessons and policy implications that will be broadly applicable to countries with a similar aging problem.
