Probing the lithosphere using mafic geochemistry: Spatial and temporal constraints on the evolution of the lithospheric mantle across Northern Australia

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Geoscience Australia and the Australian National University signed a Letter of Intention to Collaborate on 11 April 2016 to streamline collaboration on shared mutual interests across a range of science disciplines including earth science, mathematics, statistics, environmental sciences, computational sciences and spatial science. Geoscience Australia (GA), as part of the Exploring for the Future Programme, is investing capital and operational funds to collect geoscience data for the purpose of assessing the resource potential of northern Australia. Large investments has been made into the acquisition of crustal and deep Earth geophysical imaging techniques which now require complementary geological datasets to constrain the interpretation of this data and place mineral and energy systems within a temporal geodynamic framework.
