Protecting economic, social and cultural Rights in the ACT: models, methods and impact

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This project will investigate the potential for and implications of legislative protection of economic, social and cultural rights in the ACT. The ACT adopted Australia s first Bill of Rights in 2004, the ACT Human Rights Act. This legislation covers civil and political rights but it does not protect internationally recognised rights like the rights to housing, health and education. Through a major report, engagement with international experts, and academic articles, the project will guide the ACT government s consideration of the issues surrounding the protection of economic, social and cultural rights and make an innovative contribution to national and international debates.
