Project Details
Description
This project will develop a new technique in isotopic ratio optical spectrometry employing radio frequency laser modulation. We will investigate the underlying technology and the fundamental limits to its accuracy. We target two specific molecular samples in this Proposal. The first is carbon dioxide isotopes, where this new technique will improve testing of illicit and performance enhancing drugs and monitoring of atmospheric carbon dioxide, to better understand climate change. The second is water isotopes, where a higher sensitivity instrument will improve understanding and management of water resources in Australia.
