The proposed work will be of immediate benefit for the continuous monitoring of the earthquake belts around Australia, since it will provide a rapid estimate of the nature of any significant seismic energy. This information can then be fed into schemes that exploit the early part of seismic arrivals to provide early estimates of tsunami potential.
