Renewable energy heat maps - CSIRO Innovations Connection

Research activities will be comprised by development and publication of high resolution heat maps that provide qualitative and quantitative searchable information about prospective places for solar farms and wind turbines, new transmission easements and pumped hydro systems forAustralian Local Government Areas (LGA).The project will envelope two core elements: data generation and ingestion mechanisms for LGA jurisdictions, with prototyping based on a small number of LGAs agreed by CWPR/ANU; and data visualisation, presentation and user interaction design to promote ease of use (following refinement of baseline data and determining arange of selectable assumptions/parameters that can be chosen by users/landholders to easily find what they need).
