Resolving barriers to scaling up electrification and renewable energy adoption for rural households and small businesses.

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Rural Australians are hosting much of the nation’s renewable infrastructure, yet many local households and small businesses struggle to access its benefits. Barriers such as connection costs, limited local expertise and unclear information can leave communities feeling excluded from the opportunities that clean energy can bring. REAlliance have received a grant from Energy Consumers Australia to undertake community-based research to identify and address these barriers, and are seeking to sub-contract ANU to support one aspect of the project - development of a Policy Report on how to support rural household and small business electrification and the shift to renewable energy by making system changes that overcome barriers directly identified by those communities and the associated technical barriers.
