Resolving genetic basis of snow-gum subspecies complex and borer resilience

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The proposed project aims to:1.Characterise neutral genomic variation among snow-gum subspecies (genetic isolation and relatedness)2.Characterise relatedness by geographic distance (How far does pollen move)3.Explore genome-wide associations (Are the genetic regions associated with increased borer vulnerability, fire sensivitiy (i.e. bark thickness and density), drought sensitivity (stomatal features/ hydraulic anatomy), and morphological traits (fruit and leaf sizes shapes etc)4.Translate findings back to dieback management agencies and state-environment departments.
