Project Details
Description
This project will investigate and develop new computational methods which underpin the deployment of emerging supercomputer hardware to the sciences. Wavelets and high-dimensional approximation will be used todeliver scalable and reliable computational techniques for emerging petascale supercomputers and beyond. The techniques will be co-developedwith two key applications, tsunami modelling and plasma physics. Specific optimizations on state-of-the-art supercomputers with many-corenodes and complex communication networks will be undertaken. The project will deliver scientific understanding of the new mathematical software which demonstrates these techniques, and theadvancement of national expertise in this crucial technology.
