Description
This Fellowship will bring together Pakistani scholars working on diverse aspects of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its wider ramifications. A multiyear fellowship program is needed to explore the dynamics and long-term impact of CPEC-related developments on the rule of law in Pakistan. Year 1 will focus on big questions such as constitutionalism, rule of law, security, development policy.Year 2 focuses on specific CPEC development projects - transport infrastructure, Gwadar port, energy and mining projects, and special economic zones - their impact on citizen's rights and the rule of law. Year 3 will focus on the justic sector institutions in CPEC jurisdictional areas - courts, regulatory authorities, police and alternate dispute resolution mechanisms to focus on the capacity of these institutions to deal with CPEC related development, and strengthening capabilities.
