Project Details
Description
The rate of work related injury and disease on Australian farms is extremely high. A crucial preventative strategy is regulation, but the current regulatory regime is seriously deficient and over-ripe for reform. But what would such reform involve and how can regulation best be redesigned? This project will assess current regulation, identify opportunities for innovation, examine the potential roles of safety management systems, partnerships and pluralistic forms of regulation, and design a new regulatory model. In so doing it will advance regulatory theory, evaluate recent initiatives, and contribute to policy formulation.
