Scoping floating rice-based agro-ecological farming systems for a healthy society and adaptation to climate changes in the Lower Mekong Region and Myanmar

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The purpose of this research is to scope a larger project to preserve and promote sustainable floating rice-based farming systems in the Lower Mekong Region and Myanmar, where conventional farming systems are challenged by high fertilizer and pesticide inputs, and water stresses from dams and climate change. This initial research will bring together government and other key stakeholders in each of Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam to scope out the state of floating rice systems, benefits, costs, priority actions and the willingness of each stakeholder to contribute to a larger and longer research program.
