Securing agri-food industry resources by developing systems for harvesting nutrients and clean water from wastewater

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The Project will manufacture novel prototype separation systems and work with industry to test systemperformance by measuring nutrient and clean water outputs generated from wastewater samples using prototypesystems.ANU has built a library of selective protein components (background intellectual property). Relevant componentsfrom this library will be tested and further optimised for targeted nutrient separation. Industry partners will provideinput on target resources to be harvested (e.g., phosphate, nitrate), where appropriate protein componentcandidates can be selected by ANU. Separation system prototypes will be manufactured by CSIRO and embeddedwith ANUs selective protein components. CSIRO A&F will provide input to the fertiliser value potential fromrecovered resources.
