Project Details
Description
A set of detailed seismic profiles exploiting the recordings of distant earthquakes will be directed at providing structural control on the nature of the transitions between the major cratonic units of Precambrian Australia in the Earth s crust and mantle, with supplementary information from a deployment in East Antarctica. The new results will be merged with existing information from more broadly distributed portable seismic stations across the whole continent to perform inversions for a comprehensive 3-D picture of the seismological structure beneath the Australian region to a depth of about 400 km.
