Project Details
Description
There has been an explosion in international law concerning children, but no commensurate governmental acknowledgment and attendance to the needs of refugee children and youth. Using interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral approaches, this project will create a solid evidential base for improving laws and policy to protect refugee children and youth at risk, and to promote their human rights and citizenship. It will evaluate the treatment of children within the selection processes of Australia's humanitarian program overseas, and as onshore protection applicants. Ensuring quality settlement support to prepare children and youth for full participation and citizenship in Australia is the third focal area.
