Project Details
Description
The project aims to establish a solid state quantum information technology based on optically active centres in crystalline hosts. A series of quantum information processing devices including quantum memories, quantum repeaters, non-classical light sources along with a six qubit quantum processor will be developed. The integration of these components to form high level information processing systems will be investigated. The initial application of this technology is expected to be in quantum networks, to enable the secure transfer of encrypted information. Along with cryptography systems, broader applications in quantum computing will be pursued.
