Southeastern Hooded Robin Population Analysis

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The hooded robin is listed as Endangered in New South Wales under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and, more recently, under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Population numbers are estimated to have declined by more than 50% over the past decade. Key threats include habitat fragmentation, loss of woodland habitat, and potentially, predation. While the species remains broadly distributed across its national range, including within NSW, where it typically inhabits open woodlands and areas adjacent to clearings, anecdotal evidence indicates ongoing declines within the state.
