Project Details
Description
Design methodologies will be developed for systems such as sensor networks--both static and mobile--and formations of unmanned airborne vehicles (UAVs). Such spatially distributed systems typically contain many agents, and the central focus of the project is on understanding the architectural principles linked with the overlapping sensing, communications and control tasks, so that designs can be well-grounded. Complex multi-agent systems like sensor networks and UAV formations are being used ever more widely, and the associated architectures were never studied until very recently. Defence agencies will be among the early users of the results, but civilian applications will follow.
