Speed-of-Light Earthquake and Tsunami Detection

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This project aims to save lives by offering earlier earthquake and tsunami warnings to communities. Investing in earthquake and tsunami early warning research drives technological innovation, fostering the development of advanced instrumentation and computational techniques. This innovation could lead to the creation of new companies, potentially sparking new industries and job opportunities in fields such as precision instrumentation, data analysis, computing and emergency management. Innovative sensors based on advanced low-frequency gravitational-force technologies can detect propagating gravitational gradients, potentially recognising earthquakes tens of seconds and tsunamis tens of minutes earlier than current early warning systems. By preventing or mitigating the impact of earthquakes, businesses can quickly resume normal operations, maintaining economic stability and resilience. This project will support Australian scientists to participate and potential deliver Aust
