Project Details
Description
The Digitising Scotland project (https://digitisingscotland.ac.uk) (Dibben et al, 2012) aims to transcribe all Scottish birth, death, and marriage certificates from 1855 to 1973 (in total around 25 million certificates) to enable research access to individual-level information on tens of millions of individuals (a large proportion of those who have lived in Scotland). This will allow to investigate issues such as intergenerational social mobility, heritability and genetic patterns of disease, changing demography across the period of industrialisation, and many other research questions.
