Project Details
Description
cDNA experiments were conducted on fat tissues taken at the time of gastric bypass surgery and 16 months later. All surgery was conducted at Wakefield Hospital, Wellington NZ by Mr Richard Stubbs. A comprehensive patient database is maintained by Mr Stubbs and a de-identified laboratory database has been provided for use in these studies. The collection of samples and subsequent analysis were specifically approved by the Central Health and Disability Ethics Committee of the New Zealand Ministry of Health (approval No. WGT/00/04/030). Written informed consent was given by all individuals that were included in the study and all clinical investigations were conducted according to the principles expressed in the Declaration of Helsinki. In order to publish the array studies, confirmatory qRTPCR and limited protein expression studies are required. These will be funded from a grant from the Wakefield Gastroenterology Research Trust Aries account no 27838 GLC code Q4210004.
