    Project Details

    Description

We propose to develop a HF (3 - 30 MHz) communications system based on the plasma (ionised gas) antenna that is invisible to radar. The system is to be deployed on a naval vessel. In the project we aim to, . Optimise plasma generation for HF communications. . Eliminate any deleterious effects of the plasma generation process on the transmitted and received signals. . Develop a demonstrator system. . Investigate further applications of the plasma antenna such as HF and microwave radar and data communications. The research is virtually unique worldwide and extends the scientific interest and engineering applications of plasma.
