The contribution of cortical TRPA1 to sensory perception and behaviour of mammalians

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Our recent discovery that transient receptor potential Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) is highly expressed in rodent cortical neurons has shed light on its rolein the mammalian cortex. Recent studies have proposed a role for cortical TRPA1 in Alzheimers disease and migraine and further suggestedthat its activation can lead to neuronal damage. We will further investigate the physiological role of TRPA1, focusing on its potentialinvolvement in multisensory detection and processing.
