Project Details
Description
A key enabling technology for autonomous systems is sensory perception. Sensory perception is the means by which an advanced machine is aware of its surroundings, and is the basis for which control decisions are made. This project will develop decision making methods for the control of sensory perception based on (i) the current state of the machine, (ii) the estimated state of the environment, (iii) and the anticipated intention of the machine. These control algorithms vision, force, position, and proximity sensing; and (b) the GuideCane, a sonar-equipped nagivation aid for the visually impaired.
